Only applicants with South African citizenship will be considered for this position.The main responsibilities for this position is to develop and implement applications environment by designing, coding, customising and testing programs to meet specified requirements. Deliver to plan and budget within agreed standards and framework. Act as a key member of a specialist application development and support team within the IT function.
Knowledge/Qualifications:•Relevant degree/diploma with at least 3- 6 year’s systems analysis, design development experience as well as a sound understanding of Information Technology.•Understanding of business processes and functions, in one or more business sectors, ideally FMCG.•Experience in utilising/ applying project management (Prince 2) and systems development/ life cycle methodologies. •3 years experience in database development – any of VBScript, JavaScript, Oracle, Visual Basic (COM Objects), LotusScript, Java, php, perl, TCL, or another CGI scripting.•Have understanding and / or in-depth knowledge of PL/SQL, any relational database, (Oracle preferred), Siebel and mobile applications, SAP ERP applications and operating systems (preferred Win2000 and UNIX).•Good understanding of client/server and object-oriented design and experience in programming in an object oriented development language.
•Experience of working in an application development team environment.•Experience of working in a data warehouse environment.•Analyse functional/ process requirements to produce application design specifications for programmers (internal and external) to carry out programming or configuration tasks.•Assist with the specification of technology infrastructure necessary to support the applications.•Provide accurate work estimates for proposed applications and change requests as well as the supporting technology infrastructure. •Contribute to establishing the feasibility and economic justification of relevant IT projects.•Provide specialist knowledge in specified applications and their functionality and the use of that functionality for process improvement. •Working with database design or database administration colleagues, where appropriate, translates object and data models into appropriate DB schemas within design constraints.•The incremental and logical implementation of software sub-systems and their interfaces in order to form integrated complete systems to operate in target hardware environments.•Conduct program and system tests to ensure system operate to specification and assist Business Analysts in preparing user acceptance test plans. •Continuous application improvement by expansion and research into existing applications.•The execution of approved change requests (more than 1 man day in duration) typically involving the development and implementation of enhancements to applications to meet identified business needs, within agreed parameters of cost, time scales, and quality.•Monitor and coordinate the activities of contractors/consultant assigned to assist in the delivery of assigned change requests and/or project tasks.•The management of projects typically targeting the development and implementation of technology infrastructure or application software/ infrastructure upgrades that has limited business process impact, by acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality.
