Anyone got an idea when/if there will be a VS12010 launch in SA (Cape Town specifically)? It's been very quiet around that - I've not received any MSDN flash messages for over 2 months on anything.

As far as I know, it should be released sometime around April. I read they had a setback a while ago, so don't know if this has affected it though.

Been trying to find out if there will be events myself -so far I've heard nothing.
I think MSDN Flash got temporarly stopped because of the changes in DPE within Microsoft. Now that the new staff are on board I suspect we should see it getting back to it's regular scheduled messages.
Just a note about the April 12th date - that is the launch date, which is a marketing focused idea. It is possible that RTM is available before or after that event.

I posted an answer to Ahmed 's blog and he also indicated the April release date. Pity that DevDays would take place 'before' the release date - It will only wet our appetites while we cannot yet actually 'play' with the final release.
How soon do you guys plan on switching to .NET 4 after 2010 is released? Or do you just want the IDE and target a lower framework?

Last year was bad enough when they demo'd the new TFS.
My guess is most likely in April alongside the international launch or soon after. I've popped an email off looking for a date.
The MSDN Flash emails shouldn't have stopped, I do recall the last one in January, not sure about Feb.

Ok I've chatted to Microsoft SA and the plan was to originally have DevDays 2010 as the launch event. However Visual Studio 2010's release date was pushed back from March to April after the bookings were made.
So the Visual Studio 2010 South African launch event is still at DevDays 2010 in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban however its not an official international launch event due to it happening before the launch.
So get yourselves to DevDays 2010 - the dates are in the Event Calendar.
I heard that the event will be held in the month of April........
