I have just started my MCTS (70-528) and MCPD(70-547) course, I am studying via correspondance with Damelin. As many people are employers as well as managers in a related field, I was wondering at which point in my course could I attempt to "get my foot in the door" at a software development company or project of some kind. As it seems the only way other than qualification to increase earning potential is to have experience. So obviously the sooner I get maybe an internship or some junior level programming job, to better for quicker carreer advancement. And how should I go about it? for eg. Who do I contact, except for E-Merge I dont think I know of any Development or recruiting companies in SA.
Any advice would be welcome, thanks guys.
Sooner rather than later. If you think you can cope try now for a full-time job but don't let your studies suffer. An alternative is maybe looking at the "NGO Program" I think it is called. Basically coding for non-profit and welfare, would give you some valuable experience in putting your theory into practice and they don't expect highly complex code but rather the simpler and more basic the better.
In life nothing is free - if you haven't paid, someone else has.
I cant seem to find anything about "NGO Program", perhaps someone else knows the name or has a website or more info for me?
