    Online Payment Transactions

    Hi,

We are in the process of building a web application that needs to accept online payments / bank transfers for services. I was wondering what everyones experience has been with building this sort of feature and what service providers did you utilise? We have used setcom in the past but unsure if that was the best route to go.

Is it possible to integrate your application with a banking institution directly and where can I get some info regarding this if it is at all possible?

    Re: Online Payment Transactions

I did quite a bit of research on this for a project I wanted to do, and came to the conclusion that the best way to make this work would be to move to another country... Each bank charges you a setup fee and they have monthly minimum amounts you must make or they charge you that amount... The most helpful people I found were VCS, and here's a list of their charges: http://www.vcs.co.za/fees/vvendor.asp

If you want to go direct, you'll need a secure server (SSL) and certificates etc. etc. or something like that... and even then I'm not 100% sure how it works. Either way please let me know which way you go, this is something I've been interested in getting right for a while now.

PayPal is definetly an option because I believe most users have heard or are familiar with them as a service provider so they feel secure with proceeding with an online transaction.

I have never implemented the PayPal API or used their service so what was your experience?
