On which CMS system can I find the following.......

    Hi all,

Our parent company wants to start looking into getting a new CMS system for their main website. They've sent through a list of requirements that the system MUST have. Most of them are present in any run of the mill CMS system. Cost is not really an issue as it is for the Americans, they'll be funding it. I've had a look at DNN, but can't seem to find a feature list on their site (or I'm going blind). Anyhow, the features I am not sure of on whether or not DNN supports it, are:

      1. Simple user interface that can be understood by all departments, not just IT
      2. The ability to restrict access and / or the ability to perform certain operations is required.
      3. Monitoring of activity by username
      4. Approval process. Any new content created by a non administrator user would need to be approved by an administrator before going live
      5. All systems must either provide a web analytical function, or be compatible with Google analytics. A mechanism must exist in the CMS to allow new pages to be automatically registered with the analytical software.
      6. Access to the wider web page must be achievable via the CMS. Including within this are elements such as:

                                                  i.    Header and footer

                                                 ii.    Title and meta tags

iii.    Primary and secondary navigation, as well as page images.

Any1 know if DNN can do all of this? I think the other requirements should be covered.

    Thanks heaps, ppls!!!!!!!

    The H.......

I agree. Joomla is a much better option.

That's fine. I don't mind which CMS they go for. However, can Joomla do what I described above?

Also, can Joomla run on Windows? I am more familiar with DNN than Joomla. However, that is not really a problem as the parent company want to host it off-site in the USA, using some provider.

If you go the Joomla route, just be aware that there are security flaws that you will have to find and resolve yourself. Here is an example of an attack - http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/internet/2008/0808191045.asp

Re: On which CMS system can I find the following.......

You can run Joomla on Windows , Apache with PHP.

I run my sites on Windows with Apache and MySQL.

The security content publishing requirements you described I am pretty sure Joomla will be able to handel.

You have so much more choices with Joomla , the community is a LOT bigger than DNN.

Don’t get me wrong I use C# and MSQL for business apps but when it comes to CMS requirements I use only Joomla.

Why don't you setup a Joomla site as a proof of concept ? Everything you need is under Open Source license.
